The Process
Now that you’ve decided to make your own wine, the staff at Cornwall Fine Wines are happy to help you along. If you are not able to make wine in your own home, consider the convenience of our In-Store Winery. We will start the fermentation process in-store with you, then take over from there to ensure an optimal product is ready for you to bottle when you return. Depending on the grade of wine you choose, the entire process takes between 20 days to 6 weeks.
Our In-Store-Winery has all that you’ll need for bottling your batch of wine as it is fermented in one large vessel that you will transfer to your choice of container. This may be wine bottles of various sizes, or a wine-on-tap bladder. We guarantee 28 / 750 mL bottles per batch or for dessert wine, 28 / 375 mL bottles. You can customize the look of your finished product with a variety of labels and shrink caps.
From vineyard to glass
Quality wine starts in the vineyard. Our suppliers source high quality grape juice and juice concentrate from the world’s wine regions. Strict standards are followed along the supply chain from growers to the modern processing facilities. Cornwall Fine Wines has partnered with Winexperts and ABC Cork to offer an extensive line of products.
Wine Making Steps
- Select and purchase a variety and grade of wine (see our price lists)
- Add the yeast to the must ( juice or concentrate) to begin the fermentation
- Our staff will: monitor, transfer, clarify, stabilize and filter your wine on-site
- You return to bottle, cork and label your wine on the date and time you have reserved
Storage Tips
- Store wine in a cool place with little temperature variation; between 50℉ to 60 ℉ is ideal
- Make sure bottles are kept in darkness since light may promote mold growth
- Lay bottles on their side to keep corks moist and maintain a good seal
